Kakadu National National Park
Excellent for a return 3-6 day trip or even overnight. Kakadu
National Park is a World Heritage listed area that has been
listed for it's cultural and natural heritage and Kakadu
is the largest terrestrial national park in Australia. Life
in the park does depends on the water, also in respect to
the tropical monsoon climate that produces the downpours
of the tropical humidity of the "wet" season, and the milder
weather of the "dry" season. Kakadu National Park an Australian
Natural Icon covers almost 20,000 square kms and is 257
kms East of Darwin the capital city of the Northern Territory,
Australia.
Take a trip to Kakadu National Park
Darwin is a beautiful tourist destination and gateway
to Kakadu National Park 3 hours away by driving, also Litchfield
National Park 90 minutes away, and Katherine Gorge 3 hours
away. Waterfalls within Kakadu require 4 wheel drive vehicles
for access and access is seasonal. The tourism of Darwin
is seasonal and every year from April to September thousands
flock to Darwin to explore the Kakadu National Park and
the surrounding regions. The weather in the top half of
Northern Territory is divided into the wet season (October
to April) and dry season (May to September).

4wd drive into Jim Jim Falls and Gorge
In Kakadu most waterfalls such as Jim Jim Falls
and Jim Jim Gorge (accessed via a difficult 4WD track),
where it cascades more than 200m straight off the edge of
the escarpment. Best time to visit is during the early dry
season (around very late June) as soon as the road reopens.
The Falls often shtm"wing later in the season and will certainly
look less impressive but the hike into Jim Jim Gorge and
swim in the rock pool is worth the trip.
